ALBUM
universal pulse
okay, so let it be known that i am a rabid 311 fan... not the kind that knows every word, but the sort of rabid that only comes from repeating an album for weeks on end.
there are only eight tracks on this disc... and they made them count. somehow they have managed to make an album that sonically could fit somewhere in between 311's "blue album" and "from chaos".
this album contains great grooves like their self-titled album and fantastic melodies like we have heard before on "from chaos".
on one note, if you haven't purchased a 311 album since high school, you are still okay ... you haven't missed too too much. luckily, this disc will drop you off somewhere close to high school algebra class.
give it a fair share of listens... at only 28 minutes, it's a quick listen. lots to hold on to musically once you get used to the songs.
go buy it...
... and put on track 4, "trouble". then listen to track 7, "weightless". after that is done, start from the beginning. there is not a bad song on the album... those just happen to be the songs that i am stuck on. below is a video for their first single (sunset in july) off of universal pulse... it's a dumb album art video, but it;s a good quality recording of the whole tune.
and we cannot forget this little gem... god i love this song. i'm pretty sure at one point or another i thought i was nick hexum. (you can't see me, but i am shaking my head)
i hope "you, you" like this oldie too.
