holy tear my face off batman.
this album has been the one i have been waiting for since dysfunction... not to say their music has gone downhill, just to say that there was only a few gems on all of the albums since. each tune, dare i call them tunes, are absolutely brutal. i feel like i am in college again... listening to mean nasty songs, being slightly pissed off at something, or just thinking how cool it would be to scream at someone.
now that i'm a touch older and way more calm... i have to say, the memories of angry nights and uncomfortable arguments resurface when i'm listening to any of these raw emotional tracks. i feel like i need to quickly get on the horn and have at it with someone... but then it dawns on me that i am driving to get my morning dunkin donuts coffee, and all is okay. what once was coping music, has now become nostalgic and much more enjoyable.
this new album revisits their older style guitar riffs. brutal, down-tuned, rhythmic grooves help set the album up for being one of the heaviest to date. aaron lewis' melodic vocals have been paired up with one of the meanest screams in modern rock. it's ridiculous actually. every song on this album has a place in a best of mix for me.
so i'm off no to find my old staind discs. mix tape, here i come.
go buy this now.
